The Family Circles section of Alan Ayckbourn's Official Website is dedicated to Michael T. Mooney for his support of the website, his donation of his personal archive to the Ayckbourn Archive and for his friendship over the years.
I first met Michael in 2001 when he journeyed from New Jersey to Scarborough, England, for the first Ayckbourn And The Round event at the Stephen Joseph Theatre. From the start his passion for and knowledge of the plays of Alan Ayckbourn shone through.
He has been supportive of this website since its creation and, during 2018, he donated his substantial personal Ayckbourn collection to the Ayckbourn Archive held in the Borthwick Institute for Archives at the University of York. A significant collection which includes dozens of programmes for productions across the UK and USA not previously held in archive.
Family Circles is one of Michael's favourite Ayckbourn plays - in so far as he likes pretty much all of them! - because of its 'genius construction, fascinating premise and being a wonderful play for actors.'
Michael's generosity of spirit and good humour have made him a much appreciated friend who I am proud to know.
